    The 17831F is a leisure hand sewn moccasin penny loafer made by Alden in a brown chromexcel leather on the Van Last. The Van Last features a low volume toe box with a high cut vamp, making it a sleek and comfortable choice for loafers. We love this penny loafer for the unlined feel, hand sewn detailing and casual comfort provided by the chromexcel leather used. 

    Alden “Handsewn” models indicate the moccasin stitch toe was stitched by hand rather than a machine. This allows the moccasin stitch to become expressive, raised and authentic. Chromexcel is made by the famous Horween Leather Company, a tannery in Chicago, IL. Known for its softness, durability, and resiliency to the elements, Chromexcel is an ideal choice for casual, rugged footwear. Packed with waxes and oils, the leather is easy to maintain and hardwearing. 

    Alden footwear is crafted using Goodyear Welt construction, which allows for a full restoration when necessary and a water resistant build. A tempered steel shank under the arch and a cork fill provides remarkable support and comfort throughout the day.

    The Van last runs a 1/2 size larger than your standard US shoe size, similar to how the Barrie last is sized. The Van last is known for its low volume toe box and higher-cut vamp making it an ideal last for penny loafers.

    We will gladly exchange or issue store credit for any unworn regular price shoes or leather accessories purchased from us within 14 days of purchase date. We do not offer refunds and store credits do not expire. Shoes and leather accessories must be in the same condition with no signs of try-on or wear to allow for re-stocking. Re-stocking fees may apply for special order items. We do not accept returns or exchanges on socks or shoe care products. Gift certificates are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash. All in-stock Alden Catalog special orders must be paid in full at the time of order. For back order Alden Catalog styles, we require a 50% deposit at the time of order.
