The "Powell" Plain Toe Derby in Tan Nubuck is made exclusively for Brick + Mortar, featuring a tan nubuck leather which is soft, sturdy and substantial. While suede is made from the softer underside of the hide, nubuck is made from the hide’s tougher exterior side, which is thicker and has a more robust feel. While both leathers have a nap, nubuck’s nap is considerably shorter in length. This leather will develop a beautiful patina with wear, telling your unique story with each scuff, scar and conditioning. This sleek derby shoe is crafted on the popular Barrie last with a classic leather outsole, tonal stitching and laces which provide an extremely wearable, high-patina shoe with monochromatic subtlety.

Alden footwear is crafted using Goodyear Welt construction, which allows for a full restoration when necessary and a water resistant build. A tempered steel shank under the arch and a cork fill provides remarkable support and comfort throughout the day.

The Barrie last runs a 1/2 size larger than your standard US shoe size. The hallmarks of the Barrie last is its voluminous shape (high toe box, wide heel cup) and its ability to fit many different foot shapes comfortably. For this reason, it’s Alden’s most popular last. If you have slimmer feet or a low volume instep, sizing down a full size in the Barrie Last is common.
