Alden Lasts Sizing Guide
379X Last
Size down ½ Size.
The 379X Last (also known as the military last) is characterized by its rounded shape and pronounced arch support, though not as extreme as the Modified Last. It’s a great choice for those with higher arches but is still comfortable for wearers with normal arches. For those with flat feet, the 379X Last may offer a bit more support than is comfortable (in which case, the Trubalance Last would be a better choice). We generally recommend sizing down a 1/2 size from your standard US shoe size.
Aberdeen Last
True to Size.
The Aberdeen Last runs true-to-size and is the narrowest last Alden offers. The Aberdeen Last has a classic, elegant shape characterized by a rounded, pointy toe box. A truly timeless design mostly used for dress shoes and loafers.
Barrie Last
Size Down ½ - 1 Size.
The Barrie Last runs a 1/2 size larger than your standard US shoe size. The hallmarks of the Barrie Last is its voluminous shape, (high toe box, wide heel cup) its ability to fit many different foot shapes comfortably and the almond toe shape. For this reason, it’s Alden’s most popular Last. If you have slimmer feet or a low volume instep, sizing down a full size in the Barrie Last is common.
Copley Last
True to Size.
The Copley Last runs true-to-size and is characterized with a softly rounded toe box shape that runs slightly long. It is a great last if you have a high instep, but is not ideal for those with flatter feet.
Grant Last
True to Size.
The Grant Last is a slightly generous last that runs about a 1/4 size larger than your standard US shoe size. It has a rounded toe box with a slight taper. While the Grant runs slightly big, most treat it as a true-to-size last.
Hampton last
True to Size.
The Hampton Last runs true-to-size and fits the average foot well, but can also accommodate a wider forefoot while still being one of Alden’s narrowest Lasts.
Leydon Last
True to Size - Down ½ Size.
The Leydon Last is a narrower fitting last with a shallow vamp. We recommend taking your normal US size or 1/2 size down. This Last is often used for unlined chukka boots and loafers.
Orleans Last
True to Size.
The Orleans Last fits true-to-size. We suggest purchasing your standard US shoe size.
Plaza Last
True to Size - Down ½ Size**
The Plaza Last is considered Alden’s dress Last. It is characterized by its sophisticated, chiseled, and slightly elongated toe box. While the Plaza is considered a true-to-size Last, if you have narrow feet, sizing down a 1/2 size is common.
**FITTING NOTE: Loafers made on the Plaza Last run long, We suggest taking your Barrie Last size when ordering Plaza Last loafers.
Trubalance Last
Size Down ½ - 1 Size.
The Trubalance Last runs around a 1/2 - 1 full size larger than your standard US shoe size. The toe box is slightly wider than the Barrie Last, but shallower. The heel cup is also narrower than Barrie’s, so while the Trubalace is wider-looking than Barrie, the fit is very secure. If you have narrow feet sizing down a full size in the Trubalance Last is common.
Van Last
Size down ½ Size.
The Van Last runs a 1/2 size larger than your standard US shoe size, similar to how the Barrie Last is sized. The Van Last is known for its low volume toe box and higher-cut vamp making it an ideal Last for penny loafers.
